Oh no! That's exactly the kind of heartrending thing ER WOULD do, and I love Carter! On the other hand... I suppose it's not like we'll see the character again anyway, and it would make a sort of storytelling sense to follow him from when he was a snot-nosed punk to the end of his life. He's central to the show, and going out in the finale would recognise that.
