WTF? I love him but what does he have to do with Merlin?

I believe it's because Julie Gardner had some responsibility for the commissioning of Merlin and has said she took a lot of influence for the show from working with him.

I recall reading somewhere RTD was something of an adviser to the show's creators; I think that's why his name is on there.

Yeah, Julie said Russell gave her some advice early on. Much as I love them both, I'm really not so sure about Merlin.
