Yeah, you're weird, 'cuz the usual university attitue towards TV-shows is "I don't even have a telly but if I do, I never turn it on. Ever." You'll get used to it. :) And they'll never know what they're missing! :D
Actually, the next question of this guy was "And you're turned on by Daleks, right?". :DD (The answer is NO, before you think I'm a pervert. :D) And then he told me that the first ever DW-episode he'd seen was Journey's End. Don't ask why, I have no idea. :)
So as it turns out, linguists do watch TV. Not just him, the others as well. Just not as many as I do, I guess... :))
